EnsoPet Bokashi Pet Waste Compost Kit

The EnsoPet compost system is installed in-ground in the garden and uses specialised grains to rapidly break down pet waste and return it to the soil. The unit is made from recycled plastic and is easy to assemble by clicking 4 side panels together to create a bottomless cylinder with a lid. It is an inground composter with only the lid and opening left above the ground, making it discreet and suitable for small spaces. The side sections have been specifically designed with holes to allow access for moisture and worms.

To use EnsoPet simply collect your pet's waste, add it to the composter and then lightly sprinkle EnsoPet starter grains to begin the process. The micro-organisms in the grains ensure a rapid continuous breakdown of the waste so the EnsoPet composter will take many months or may never completely fill. If it does, you can move it to another spot in the garden, or you might consider having two if you have many pets.

why compost your pet's waste?

There are over 4 million dogs in Australia each producing up to 100kg of waste annually. If left uncollected it pollutes public areas and rain washes it into our waterways.

The most popular method of collecting pet waste from parks, beaches, nature strips and footpaths is using plastic bags and disposing these into landfill. Can you compost food waste in the EnsoPet?

While EnsoPet is specifically designed to compost pet poo, it can also handle food waste effectively. Composting directly into the soil with EnsoPet offers several benefits, including direct nutrient delivery, pest and odour control, low maintenance, efficient decomposition, and space efficiency.

Fermenting food waste in a Bokashi Bucket and then adding the fermented waste to an EnsoPet is the favored "companion composting" method. However, it is certainly fine to add food waste directly to an EnsoPet as well. Just remember to add EnsoPet Starter or Bokashi One Mix.

When using an EnsoPet, be sure to add waste gradually to avoid overfilling the composter too quickly. You might need more than one EnsoPet, especially if you're composting both pet waste and food scraps. Aerating the waste will significantly speed up the composting process. Aeration involves mixing or turning the waste to introduce more oxygen.
